Coastline Journal publishes essays which reflect the wide range of reading and writing to be found in graduate liberal studies programs across North America. Unlike many academic disciplines, liberal studies does not focus on one discipline, but rather views subjects through a wide-angle lens, incorporating philosophy, history, literature, science, art, economics, and other disciplines to examine questions from several vantage points.

You are welcome to respond to a writer in the comments window, found at the end of each essay. Because reading long articles online can be tiring,  each essay has a link allowing you to download as a pdf. Rights remain with the essay’s author.
